About Us

Yorkshire hospitality at its best

Come and stay in the heart of York and experience why York is consistently voted one the best places to visit in Britain. This property combines modern open plan living with some original Victorian terrace house features. The living quarters include a cosy sitting area to the front of the house with views of the city walls and period feature fireplace. The smart TV and comfy leather sofas make this the perfect place to relax in modern comfort. Two steps lead up to a dining area for six people and French doors opening out to the garden. The fully equipped modern kitchen is down a further two steps. The kitchen houses modern units, a full range of kitchen utensils and equipment including a full size oven and hob, fridge-freezer and microwave. An archway leads to the utility room with further storage units, washing machine and dish-washer. A downstairs toilet and wash basin can be found at the rear of the property. Baggergate House is a very quirky property with many nooks and crannies and different levels.  You will find steps in many unexpected places, which we think adds to its charm, but you do  need to take care as you’re walking around to avoid tripping on the steps. As such the property  is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems.

The first floor bedrooms both boast en-suite toilet and wash-basin. The front bedroom has two sash windows with views over the city walls and double bed. The rear bedroom has two single beds, dressing table and built in wardrobe. The spacious family bathroom with bath, walk in rain shower, wash-basin and toilet. A further staircase leads to the bright and airy loft bedroom. This characterful room features some original exposed wood beams and has a velux window, two low single beds, a small wardrobe and dressing table. The room has restricted height, with maximum 1m 75 cms at the ridge and reducing towards the eaves.

Outside there is a sunny paved garden with a raised deck, table and recliner chairs. Our hidden gem, the hot tub is  perfect for unwinding after a hard days shopping and sight seeing. The garden gate opens onto a small public grassed area with mature trees, which borders the renowned Bishopthorpe Road shopping parade. Only a stone's throw from the city centre, this street has retained its friendly atmosphere with a vibrant mix of independent businesses including artisan shops, bars, restaurants and pavement cafes. It hosts a number of community events throughout the year and has won several awards including the best UK shopping parade in 2015.
